This fall, SoEx teaching artists, Youth Advisory Board (YAB) members and Community Partners transform SoEx’s 14th Street back gallery into a classroom and workshop space devoted to YAB, a group that investigates ideas and innovative art practices while relaying personal experiences around issues of gentrification, urban survival, and critical thinking. Community guest speakers, local artists and youth artists talk and explore relevant themes with YAB members. By infusing ideas and concepts around the subject of stereotypes that relate to urban youth, this semester YAB focuses on photography and video literacy. YAB will be developing skills in photography and video production, storyboarding, editing, choreography, urban typography, installation and drawing.
