CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS: THE CRIES OF SF

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS: THE CRIES OF SF

TO MARKET! TO MARKET!
CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS

The Cries of San Francisco

Hawk your wares.
Peddle your services and skills.
Carry your self-made business on your back.
Sing us your songs and street calls.

Artist Allison Smith seeks up to 50 people to collaborate with her and Southern Exposure to create a temporary public art project that takes as its inspiration the historic tradition of street peddling as an alternative or underground economy and a form of sculptural drag. Selected participants are invited to take on peddler personae for a public performance over the course of one day in early June 2011 along Market Street between the Embarcadero and Mint Plaza. Southern Exposure will also host a series of events and serve as a public house and market hall where participants will gather to perform and record their cries and to trade and peddle their wares to the public from May 20 through July 2, 2011.

How to Apply
Apply through the project website.
