Yaas Queen / Souvenirs for Mars

Please join us in celebrating the young artists of Southern Exposure’s Artists in Education Program. View two concurrent exhibitions of work created in Fall 2019 by Southern Exposure's Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and the Mission Girls' Young Queens on the Rise.

Opening Reception: Wednesday, December 11, 2019, 5:00 - 7:00 PM
Exhibition open: December 11 - 20, 2019
Tuesday - Saturday, 12:00 - 6:00 PM

The Youth Advisory Board’s collaborative installation–Souvenirs for Mars–is about introspection and communal care. YAB seeks to create a time capsule that examines the past while contemplating an uncertain tomorrow, teetering between being overwhelmed and whelmed.

Yaas Queen is a show presented by the Young Queens on the Rise program at Mission Girls. The Young Queens’ exhibition centers on ideas of female empowerment, sisterhood and transforming the gallery into a space of experimentation and self-awareness.
