In Loving Memory of Sissy
Friday, August 27th - Saturday, September 25th, 1999
Opening Reception: 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Friday, August 27, 1999
Preserved beneath the domes of glass bell jars, flowers gently open and close with the loving assistance of a mechanical hand. The wings of a Monarch butterfly obediently flutter in synch with the soft vibration of a miniature motor. Using common-place mechanical components, off the shelf hardware and found natural materials, such as flowers, preserved insects and road-kill pigeons, Paul Stout assembles harmonic vignettes and dioramas.
