The Look Stains (Fragments and Notations): A Drawing Installation

January 7 - February 5, 1994

Opening Reception: 6:00 – 8:00 pm January 7, 1994.

The Look Stains (Fragments and Notations): A Drawing Installation reflects Brad Brown’s interest in time, process and documentation. Brown draws a clear distinction between his conscious choice of materials and the unconscious application process which ensues in the drawings. The drawing surfaces are left on the floor to become palettes for paint drippings, footprints, stains, and other abuse. These initial drawings, the artist notes, “created in spite of myself,” may be joined together or systematically fragmented to be stacked, reassembled or collaged to form fleeting, repetitive images.
