Common Field Presents Hand-in-Glove 2015

Common Field, a new national visual arts organizing network, has opened tickets and registration for its itinerant convening – Hand-in-Glove, September 17-20, in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Organized by Works Progress Studio and The Soap Factory, the 2015 convening will assemble over 350 visual arts organizers from across the United States and beyond to explore the contexts and conditions of artist-centered projects and spaces and celebrate the official launch of Common Field.

Southern Exposure is proud to be a founding member of Common Field. Common Field aims to serve as a platform for independent, non-commercial, experimental contemporary visual arts organizations and organizers from the US and beyond that supports learning, connectivity, research, and advocacy across these groups. Common Field was co-founded by Southern Exposure’s Executive Director, Courtney Fink with a group of organizers and leaders in the field.

Since 2011, Hand-in-Glove has brought together arts organizers, leaders, curators, artists, supporters, and radical administrators to share practices, exchange ideas, and deepen peer relationships. The Minneapolis-St. Paul convening will include debates, panel discussions, artist-designed dinners, workshops, celebratory evening events, and an art tour across the two cities.

Hand-in-Glove and Common Field are funded with generous start-up support from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Local supporters of the Hand-in-Glove convening include The McKnight Foundation, the Knight Foundation, and The Jerome Foundation.
