In conjunction with White Hot Lamp Black, visual artist Carrie Hott and upright bassist Laura Steenberge lead an investigation into echolocation. Research by each artist converges around the lightless navigation of bats and whales. In an off-site, undisclosed location, the two will explore the practice of sounding and low frequency vibration. Together, we will take a walk in a dark cave, listen to improvised sound, consider deep ocean spaces and the behavior of flying and swimming mammals and discover what a fathom is. Please dress warmly and bring a flashlight.
