El Grito de la Misión, a Final Celebration + Opening Reception + Performance
Wednesday, August 19, 2009
5:00 - 7:30 pm

At Southern Exposure, 417 14th Street

Southern Exposure invites you to join Mission Voices Summer youth, artists and community partners for El Grito de la Mision, a final celebration of Mission Voices Summer 2009. The event includes an exhibition of new work and installations, interactive performance works, food and refreshments. The event is FREE and open to the public.

Students and teaching artists developed projects over the past six-weeks during a summer intensive workshop at SoEx that explored self-representation and identity in comparison to abstract or ridged representation by looking outside and inside the box.

Mission Voices students present an installation in the back gallery. In the front gallery, students present a series of interactive performance works including a dream exercise and ten card/background check projects. Visitors are also invited to partake in a participatory food project with artist Mai Ryuno.
