Julia Goodman transforms materials that lie closest to our skin — discarded bed sheets and t-shirts into low-relief handmade paper sculptures. Her work refuses to be flat and lies between papermaking, painting and sculpture.
 
Julia Goodman is an artist and educator who works with humble and visceral materials to consider personal, political and ecological cycles. Goodman's recent exhibitions include The Contemporary Jewish Museum (San Francisco, CA), Saint Mary’s College (Notre Dame, IN), The Poetry Foundation (Chicago, IL), San Jose Institute for Contemporary Art, and Center for Book (New York, NY). Her residencies include the JB Blunk Residency, Recology SF (The Dump), Angelic Organics (a biodynamic CSA in Illinois) and the Salina Art Center. Julia received her MFA from California College of the Arts and her BA in International Relations and Peace & Justice Studies from Tufts University.
