Emergent Landscapes

  • Round 12

Emergent Landscapes

Emergent Landscapes is a platform for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) to reimagine the relationships between land, capitalism, and each other. Emergent Landscapes curates contemporary art events featuring site-specific, BIPOC artist-created activations of natural landscapes centering BIPOC imaginations, experiences, and futures. In the first iteration, Emergent Landscapes will gather bodies of color for a weekend of performances and installations from Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo, Jade Ariana Fair, Randy Reyes, Gabriela Sans, and additional BIPOC artists within Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve. Through intimate, immersive, impermanent, and somatic experiences, Emergent Landscapes proposes alternative relationships and realities. Alternative Exposure supports funding for BIPOC artists and organizers. Emergent Landscapes is a collaboration of Beatriz Escobar, Kayla Jones, and Anna Xu.
