In conjunction with the Asian Contemporary Art Consortium (ACAC-SF), Southern Exposure presents performances by two Bay Area artists that address stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding Asian-Americans. Mike Lai recreates a scene from Kung Fu genre films through sound and vocal performance with Charming Hostess, a music ensemble at the intersection of voice, text and diaspora consciousness. Founded by Jewlia Eisenberg in 1998, our mission is to make lovely noise about complex ideas. Jenifer Wofford's comedic performance examines Filipina stereotypes from an absurdist perspective.
