SoEx continues our new partnership program with The Beat Within, a program that gives creative opportunities for incarcerated youth to share their writing and artwork in a bi-weekly publication. SoEx leads weekly visual art workshops in the San Francisco and Oakland Juvenile Justice Centers, with teaching artists at each site. Youth create collaborative drawings, photographs, and collages, building on each other's experiences and coming together through a visual dialogue. Works produced will be published alongside writing in The Beat Within. The program will culminate with a published book of artwork from youth in the hall.
