The SoEx IDEATHON is a nine-hour, idea-sharing marathon featuring 60 presentations

About the IDEATHON:
The IDEATHON is an open platform for artists and non-artists to share their concepts and ideas and to engage in dialog with their peers and the public. SoEx’s IDEATHON hopes to create a public forum for thinking, sharing unrealized projects, proposing schemes, talking about new ways of working, and discovering new ideas. What do we mean by ideas? Anything and everything will be considered.

SoEx has been long-committed to open and accessible formats for allowing people to send us their proposals and ideas, and runs a free open submissions process. SoEx is looking to invent new ways to hear from you. The IDEATHON is a new model for SoEx to consider current thinking and modes of practice for our programming, but also allows participants to share their ideas with the public and possibly be considered by other arts organizers. As an artist-centered organization, SoEx is committed to hearing directly from artists how they’d like to be supported.

Through an open call for proposals, SoEx will consider your concept for a presentation at the IDEATHON. All ideas will be considered. 60 proposals will be selected and invited participants will share their idea with the public at Southern Exposure on Saturday, March 3, 2012 between 1 and 10 pm. Presentations will use the Pecha Kucha format presentation methodology in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each or a total of approximately seven minutes per person.

The deadline to apply is midnight on Friday, January 6, 2012. Click here to find out more on SoEx’s website. You will be notified by Wednesday, January 25 and all applicants must be available to present at the IDEATHON on March 3, 2012 anytime between 1:00 and 10:00 pm at Southern Exposure.

-In 200 words maximum explain the idea you’d like to present
-One idea/proposal per person
-You must be able to attend the IDEATHON on Saturday, March 3, 2012, anytime between 1 and 10 pm
