Beautiful Possibility Tour: Part 2 Launch Party

Thursday, March 15, 2012, 6:00 – 9:00 pm
Free, elixirs and soup by donation

Join Southern Exposure as we send off Alison Pebworth on Part II of her Beautiful Possibility Tour across the continent and generate support for her project. Over 10 months, Allison will stop at venues and develop new projects across the northern states from Minnesota to the East Coast.

Join us and sample the country through an Elixir infusion of ingredients collected from the first tour as you watch images from the journey. Sip new spirits as they are distilled live and infused with local ingredients that will form the base for the 2012 Elixir. Peruse the map and new tour lineup. New work for the traveling exhibition will be unveiled, hot soup and other libations will be served.

The event will also include works for sale at pre-gallery prices, and an opportunity to participate in her exploration into the back roads of contemporary American culture by sponsoring a portion of her journey. All participants for the night's event earn a spot on the hand-painted people powered donor board that will accompany the traveling exhibition. The event is free and open to the public — donations for libations, art work, souvenirs and sponsorship go directly to the Beautiful Possibility Project.

ABOUT BEAUTIFUL POSSIBILITY
Beautiful Possibility is a traveling exhibition and research project that takes the nomadic experience of itinerant explorers and traders, and the traveling culture of Medicine and Wild West Shows as inspiration for engaging others about what it means to be American. The first segment of the project launched from Southern Exposure in San Francisco, California, in April 2010. For the seven months that followed, Pebworth toured an exhibition of painted banners, map and survey station to prescheduled venues from California to the Dakotas (including parts of southern Canada), accompanying the show in a small travel trailer for the duration of her solo journey. Select tour stops on Part II of her tour in 2012 include the Lakota Sioux Nation, Pine Ridge, South Dakota; Works Progress, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Wormfarm Institute, Reedsburg, Wisconsin; SPACES, Cleveland, Ohio; Unsmoke Systems, Braddock, Pennsylvania; Sabbath Day Lake Shaker Residency, Glouchester, Maine; and Space Gallery, Portland, Maine.
