Lo-Cal features five artists from the Bay Area and five artists from Los Angeles. As curator Marisa Hernandez states, “The work in this show tends to be formally ‘minimal,’ emphasizing the ready-made-ness of its ingredients and ultimately glorifying the banal.” Lo-Cal is ostensibly “LITE” yet covertly conceptual. In short, serious work that doesn’t take itself very seriously.
