House of Ill Repute is a semi-interactive installation that incorporates large wall paintings and a floor installation of found objects and mixed media. Exploring the cacophony of urban imagery, local artists McCarthy and Neri use several media, including oil, latex, spray enamel and stencil ink, to create stylized images of human figures and animals. At once graceful and haunting, wall paintings of female nudes in abstracted surroundings work in association with the mixed media works on the floor below.

Both artists are graduates from the San Francisco Art Institute. McCarthy has taught and exhibited statewide. Neri has created murals by commission in San Francisco and Inverness; her leaping horses can be seen on brick walls, steel gates, and at bus stops throughout these areas.
