Southern Exposure presents in the mezzanine galley Teresa Chen’s photographic installation, Atmospheres.  In her series of large-scale color photographs, close-ups of bruised skin mediate between atmospheric abstraction and photographic representation.  Chen plays with our conflicting response of attraction and repulsion by offering an array of beautiful and painterly images that simultaneously serve as signifiers for both physical and emotional trauma.
