A Dinner with Gary Simmons and Jeff Chang

Join us on April 22 for an intimate evening with renowned artist Gary Simmons, whose sculptural installation Recapturing Memories of the Black Ark is curently on view at Southern Exposure.

Noted cultural writer and music critic Jeff Chang sits down with Simmons for a wide-ranging conversation on art, music, race and culture. Chang is the author of Can’t Stop Won’t Stop (2005), a chronicle of the early hip hop scene and Who We Be: The Colorization of America (2014), on the social history, cultural influence, and massive selling of multiculturalism in America over the last thirty years.

Your $175 ticket includes admission to the public conversation and DJ set, a cocktail reception with Simmons and Chang in advance of the talk, and dinner in the private workshop of State Bird Provisions and The Progress restaurants.
