Sandow Birk is a graduate of the Otis College of Art and Design. He is a painter, sculptor, print maker, filmmaker and installation artist, and his projects are often expansive in scope, taking on great works of literature, religion, and foundational documents. His quest is for subjects that are challenging and germane to cogent political topics.

Birk’s work is included in multiple institutional collections such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art The release of the book "American Qur’an" published by W. W. Norton & Company in Fall 2015 coincided with a travelling solo exhibition at Catharine Clark Gallery, the Orange County Museum of Art, and the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art..
