Taraneh Hemami works with materials of history, organizing archives, images, data and information into patterns, colors and maps while weaving complimentary and contradictory collective and personal narratives. Hemami's works have been exhibited and collected internationally, including by the Victoria and Albert Museum, and British Museum. Hemami has been awarded a Creative Work Fund (2000), a Kala Fellowship (2007), a Eureka Fellowship (2012), a Creative Capital (2012), Artistic Innovation Award from Center for Cultural Innovation (2012), a California Humanities' Community Stories (2013), a San Francisco Arts Commission Cultural Equity Individual Artist Award (2001, 2008, 2014), and Community Arts Award from Zellerbach Family Foundation (2015, 2016).
