One-On-One Mentors

One-On-One Mentors

Southern Exposure seeks artist mentors for our One-On-One Mentorship program. The program offers youth ages 16 to 21 the opportunity to engage with an individual professional visual artist. Pairs of adult and youth artists work together weekly, both at SoEx and off-site, for an entire school year. This program aims to develop artistic, educational and life skills by combining the benefits of mentoring relationships with art education. Mentors provide guidance and support for youth at this critical time in their artistic, intellectual and emotional development. This program not only seeks to provide individual support to foster growth in youth as artists and community members, but also to provide practical and meaningful work experience to professional artists and art educators. Artist mentors receive a stipend per semester. Pairs will work together and learn from each other, working towards specific tasks and creating a final collaborative project with the rest of the mentors and mentees.
