Development & Fundraising Events Intern (Auction)
The Development & Fundraising Events Intern works closely with the Assistant Director and Fundraising Committee on all aspects of Southern Exposure's Annual Fundraiser and Art Auction. The intern will learn how to organize a major fundraising event from beginning to end, including a range of pre- and post-event communications and the context of a major fundraising event within a small non-profit organization. Duties include seeking business sponsorships and in-kind donations, coordinating auction artists and artworks, creating and maintaining complex spreadsheets, auction catalog production, event production, gallery installation, publicity and marketing, and donor acknowledgement.
Skills needed: Strong communication skills, an outgoing personality, attention to detail, ability to work independently, interest in non-profit fundraising and event planning; familiarity with Macintosh computers, social media and a solid working knowledge of general office applications such as Google Drive, FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Duration: January – May 2015, approximately 6–8 hours/week with extra hours during the week of the auction (mid-March)
