We're looking for four individuals to support our annual Auction and essential administrative functions

ARCHIVE INTERN
The archive internship is ideal for someone who is interested in learning about preserving Southern Exposure's history, learning about the alternative arts space movement and conducting archival research. The archive intern will work with SoEx staff members to secure archival documents, catalog items in the archive and eventually make accessible to the public the organization's rich 40-year history. The position involves digitizing archival materials and photographs, researching and reconstructing past programming at Southern Exposure, and migrating archival data to our website. SoEx seeks candidates who can commit six to eight hours a week for at least a six-month period.
Skills needed: The candidate must possess excellent organization and research skills, as well as proficiencies in Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel and Word.
Duration: 6 months
COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
Working under the supervision of the Communications and Outreach Director, the communications intern maintains press contacts and received press records, promotes SoEx events and projects via listings and social media, uploads content to the SoEx website and analyzes quarterly viewership/readership statistics. The intern should know and understand SoEx's artists and projects, occasionally helping to write and edit copy. This position is ideal for someone interested in arts writing, digital engagement, and audience development.
Skills needed: A working knowledge of social media platforms, Microsoft Word, Excel and the Adobe Creative Suite. HTML knowledge is a plus.
Duration: 6 months
CURATORIAL INTERN
Under the supervision of the Projects and Exhibitions Program Director, the curatorial intern organizes information in support of the logistical planning of events and projects; sources materials and organizes equipment for artists; creates spreadsheets and assists with additional administrative and event tasks as needed. The curatorial intern attends and takes minutes at monthly curatorial committee meetings. This position allows the intern an inside view into curatorial processes and committee structure within a fast-paced non-profit environment.
Skills needed: Attention to detail, ability to work independently, ability to follow through with long-term projects, knowledge of contemporary artistic practices and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. This position requires a one-year commitment.
Duration: One year
DEVELOPMENT & FUNDRAISING EVENTS INTERN (AUCTION)
The Development & Fundraising Events Intern works closely with the Administrative Manager and Fundraising Committee on all aspects of Southern Exposure's Annual Fundraiser and Art Auction. The intern will learn how to organize a major fundraising event from beginning to end, including a range of pre- and post-event communications in the context of a major fundraising event within a small non-profit organization. Duties include seeking business sponsorships and in-kind donations, coordinating auction artists and artworks, creating and maintaining complex spreadsheets, auction catalog production, event production, gallery installation, publicity and marketing, and donor acknowledgement.
Skills needed: Strong communication skills, an outgoing personality, attention to detail, ability to work independently, interest in non-profit fundraising and event planning; familiarity with social media and a solid working knowledge of general office applications such as Google Drive, FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Duration: November – May (6 months)
