Leigh Lehman Named Interim Director

Southern Exposure is pleased to announce that Leigh Lehman has been named Interim Director of the organization, while the Board of Directors prepares to engage in a nationwide search for the next Executive Director during the fall of 2015. Lehman comes to SoEx following the departure of long-time Executive Director Courtney Fink, who shepherded the organization for thirteen years during an extensive period of transformative growth.

As incoming Interim Director, Lehman’s depth of experience with strategic planning, development and financial management at local arts and cultural organizations will serve SoEx well during the transition period. She has helmed several organizations in varying degrees of transition, including recent stints as Acting Director at the Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito and as Interim Director at the David Brower Center in Berkeley. Previously, she held various roles at 826 Valencia, from Programs Director to Development Director and, ultimately, Executive Director.

Kelsey Nicholson, Board President, said:  “We are all super excited to welcome Leigh to the Southern Exposure family. Leigh joins us at this pivotal moment and brings with her a wealth of experience in thoughtfully guiding nonprofits through leadership change. I am joined by the board and staff in looking forward to working with her during this transition period as we continue to build upon SoEx’s vibrant legacy of supporting visual artists.”

Beginning in October, the Southern Exposure Board of Directors will engage in a public search process for an Executive Director. Kathryn Reasoner, former Executive Director of di Rosa, will serve as a consulting advisor to the board during the search.
