With this move, Southern Exposure will launch into new territory with SoEx Offsite, an ambitious year-long series of new works that investigate diverse strategies for exploring and mapping public space that will be presented in public sites around San Francisco. SoEx’s Artists in Education program will also examine these themes through after-school and summer programs and a series of public projects created by local youth working with Southern Exposure’s teaching artists. Our storefront will serve as a home base for the artists working through our programs, for the public to further investigate these projects, and as a starting point for discovering work beyond gallery walls.

As one of the oldest artist-run alternative arts organizations in the Bay Area, Southern Exposure is excited about this opportunity to change our environment and to challenge ourselves to support new forms of creative practice. Our goal is to continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of the artist community, invent new models of support, and stay at the front lines of incubating socially and culturally cutting-edge ideas.

Southern Exposure is far more than a particular space or set of programs, we are a community made up of a network of passionate artists, educators, youth, neighbors, and supporters. As part of our community, we hope you’ll join us on this yearlong adventure.
