Monster Drawing Rally 2013

A live drawing event & fundraiser

Monster Drawing Rally 2013

Join us on June 14, 2013 for Southern Exposure's Annual Monster Drawing Rally, a live drawing and fundraising event with 120 artists working side by side. The event lets spectators to observe artists in the act of creation, providing the opportunity to watch a drawing come to life, and to purchase a work of art minutes after its completion. Drawings are available for purchase immediately for just $60 each, and all proceeds provide direct support to Southern Exposure's programs and mission of supporting visual artists. The Monster Drawing Rally sets the stage for extraordinary interaction. The evening will consist of four one-hour shifts that each feature 30 artists drawing simultaneously, bringing their private, rarely-seen studio practices to life for your viewing pleasure!

Many thanks to our generous sponsors New Belgium Brewing Company. Venue sponsorship by The NWBLK. DJs Juan Luna-Avin and Joshua Pieper spin music to draw and dance to all night long. Curbside food available for purchase by local food trucks KASA Indian and Burr Eatery.

The Monster Drawing Rally: An Expanding National Network

The response to the Monster Drawing Rally continues to grow and become a national model. SoEx has partnered with a growing network of nonprofit arts organizations throughout the country, such as The Armory Center for the Arts in Los Angeles, Midway Center for Contemporary Art in Minneapolis, 1708 Gallery in Richmond, MOCAD in Detroit, and Spaces in Cleveland, helping them establish the Monster Drawing Rally with our support. Southern Exposure is proud to share our successful fundraising models and community-building strategies with similar artist-centered organizations, and committed to serving as a resource for the national visual arts community through this and its other programs.
