Joshua Peder Stulen (b. 1986, Spicer, Minnesota) received a MFA in sculpture from California College of the Arts in 2015 and a BFA in sculpture from St. Cloud State University, Minnesota, in 2009.

The predominant focus of Stulen’s artistic practice is the cultural role of sports, recreation, and leisure within society. Using performance, site-specific events, installations, sculptural interventions, and museum studies, he explores the ways in which social forms, places, spaces, and ideologies are developed in relation to these fields.

Stulen has exhibited and performed at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (2015); the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco (2015); Southern Exposure, San Francisco (2015, 2014); the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (2015); Art in Odd Places, Indianapolis (2014); the Lumberyard, Marfa, Texas (2014); the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (2014); Sports Basement, San Francisco (2014); Art of This, Minneapolis (2009); and the Soap Factory, Minneapolis (2009), among other places. He lives and works in San Francisco, and is one third of the artist collective Stadium Projects.
