Most Wanted investigates the nature of perception, recognition, and representation while examining the construction of the image of the new enemy. Interpretations of a series of faceless portrayals of the most wanted terrorists as identified by the United States government contemplate the ways in which stereotypical perceptions of people are created while pondering the relationship between image and identity.

Taraneh Hemami explores themes of displacement, preservation, and representation in her multi dimensional research based projects. Her practice has followed several trajectories of artist, organizer, curator, and archivist. Her often participatory and collective projects promote dialog as part of their process and presentations. Examining the careful crafting of images and language designed and propagated for power and political gain, Taraneh's replications of historical archives comment on tools of manipulation and persuasion used across nations and histories.

Her sources have varied from an most wanted poster downloaded from a U.S. governmental site for examination of stereotyping, to a collection of banned books and propaganda of the Iranian underground movement that narrate the Iranian revolution. Her recent works highlight the collective struggle within Iran and its diaspora, as a vehicles for reconnecting, remembering and renegotiating events of personal, national, regional and global significance, while investigating the universal connections between radical movements across times and geographies.

Hemami's works have been exhibited, reviewed and collected, internationally, and have been he recipient of many awards including a Eureka Fellowship (SF), a Center for Cultural Innovation Award (LA), a Creative Work Fund (SF), and a Creative Capital (NY).
