The Ensisheim Meteorite of 1492, 2015
Lauren Marie Taylor is a Bay Area conceptual artist whose work has been recognized by Teaching Tolerance and the Southern Poverty Law Center. Taylor has contributed to New American Paintings and Talk Shows: The Emergence of the Discursive Exhibition. She has performed at the Singularity Summit and at SOMArts as part of Electronic Pacific.
In 2013 she was the first Artist in Residence at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico. In 2015 Taylor was an Artist in Residence at the American Academy in Rome, through which she worked with the Vatican Astronomical Observatory. Recent projects include a collaborative work on the Man in Space Collection at the Walt Disney Family Museum, Satellite Engineering at the California Academy of Sciences, a week of workshops at YBCA as part of BAN 7 and a solo exhibition at Southern Exposure around the theme of robotics in the Civil Rights Era.
She holds a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Tufts joint degree program, an MEd from Portland State University and an MFA in Social Practice from the California College of the Arts. Taylor is the currently the Senior Manager of Education at the Bay Area Video Coalition.
