Maria Porges is an artist and writer based in Oakland. She received degrees from Yale and the University of Chicago and spent a year in an apprenticeship to a psychotic potter in Japan. A recipient of the SECA Award, she has also been in residence at the Headlands. She teaches at CCA in the Graduate Program and blogs at www.wordsaboutart.com.
