The Naming Gallery: Water from Blood

THE NAMING GALLERY: WATER FROM BLOOD

Naming Gallery’s project, “Water from Blood”, will send Bay Area artists Jaclyn Tobia and Choke back to their ancestral land of Puerto Rico to install 100 collapsible rainwater harvesting barrels in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Naming Gallery will also gather 360 degree virtual reality footage documenting our interactions and efforts to give meaningful aid to our families and communities of origin. By forging this connection we will restore a dialog between artists in Puerto Rico and Oakland artists of Puerto Rican descent. Water from Blood will culminate in a free public showing of our VR documentary and installation based exhibition at Naming Gallery in the summer of 2018.
