About 2016 Grant Process

In Round 10 of the Alternative Exposure Grant Program, Southern Exposure awarded $72,000 to 15 projects at levels ranging from $4,250 to $4,850.

15 recipients were selected from 93 applications: Adobe Books Backroom Gallery, ANTIVIRAL: 25 Years to Restorative Justice, The Anti-Eviction Mapping Project, City Limits, Class Set, Creative Mean, E.M. Wolfman Bookstore and Gallery, Graffiti Camp for Girls, my gaze///yr gaze, ONE + ONE + TWO, The Painting Salon, Queer Ancestors Project, Real Time and Space, SoMapagmahal, and Viral Counter-Publics.

The 2016 grantees were selected by an outside panel consisting of Rhiannon Evans MacFadyen, a curator, consultant, and project-based artist from San Francisco whose Black & White Projects was a Round 9 Alt Ex grantee; Megan McCready, Associate Director of Midway Contemporary Art, a 2016 addition to the Warhol Regional ReGranting program; and Lucia Sanromán, director of visual arts at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
