THE THING Quarterly: Issue Launch and THE THING’s 2nd Year Anniversary Party

Issue 7 of THE THING, an experimental publication founded by San Francisco based visual artists Jonn Herschend and Will Rogan, will launch on Thursday, July 9th, from 6 - 9 pm at Southern Exposure. The public is invited to celebrate the launch and to help wrap Jonathan Lethem’s issue.

THE THING is a quarterly periodical in the form of an object. Each year, four artists, writers, musicians or filmmakers are invited to create an everyday object that somehow incorporates text. The object is reproduced and hand wrapped at wrapping parties and then mailed to the homes of the subscribers with the help of the United States Postal Service.

This issue launch will mark THE THING’s 2nd  anniversary and a homecoming to Southern Exposure. The public is invited to celebrate and help wrap. Rogan and Herschend began their collaboration of THE THING in May of 2007 as part of a residency at Southern Exposure.
